Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be welcomed by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a short Kigali city tour visiting cultural and historical landmarks.
Relax at your hotel and prepare for your journey to Nyungwe Forest.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwestern Rwanda. The journey offers beautiful scenery including rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural landscapes.
Arrive at your lodge near the rainforest and relax for the evening.
Drive Time: Approximately 5–6 Hours
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest
Early morning transfer into Nyungwe Forest for chimpanzee trekking. Meet experienced guides and start your search for habituated chimpanzee families.
The trek takes you deep into the rainforest where you may also encounter colobus monkeys, butterflies, and exotic birds.
Return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Canopy Walk Experience
After breakfast, enjoy a guided walk through Nyungwe Forest leading to the famous canopy walkway suspended above the forest.
The canopy walk offers breathtaking views of the rainforest, birds, and wildlife below.
Afternoon is free for relaxation or optional nature walks.
Day 5: Return to Kigali and Departure
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Kigali through Rwanda’s scenic countryside.
Upon arrival, you may do optional souvenir shopping before transfer to Kigali International Airport for departure.
This marks the end of your Nyungwe rainforest adventure.
