Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be welcomed by your professional driver-guide who will brief you about your Rwanda safari. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short Kigali city tour visiting selected cultural and historical sites.
After lunch, begin your scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. The journey passes through beautiful terraced hills, rural communities, and stunning landscapes that define Rwanda as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”
Arrive at your lodge in the evening, relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for your gorilla trekking adventure the next day.
Drive Time: Approximately 2.5 Hours
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for briefing and assignment of a gorilla family. You will then enter the forest with experienced rangers for your gorilla trekking experience.
The trek may take between 1 to 6 hours depending on gorilla movement. Once found, spend one magical hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat as they interact, feed, and care for their young.
Return to your lodge for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Dian Fossey Hike (Karisoke Research Center)
After breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for briefing before starting your hike to the Dian Fossey research center at Karisoke.
The hike takes you through dense rainforest, bamboo zones, and volcanic terrain. Along the way, you may encounter birds, monkeys, and breathtaking views of the Virunga volcanoes.
At the research site, learn about the life and conservation work of Dian Fossey, the famous primatologist who dedicated her life to protecting mountain gorillas.
Return to the lodge for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Return to Kigali and Departure
After breakfast, begin your drive back to Kigali through Rwanda’s scenic countryside. Enjoy beautiful views of rolling hills and rural life along the way.
Upon arrival in Kigali, you may enjoy optional souvenir shopping or a short city tour depending on your flight schedule. Later, transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or hotel drop-off.
